All steps below are being explained in detail in the video above. You can also watch it directly on YouTube.

Option 1: Import Articles Automatically Using Your Byline

If your articles are published under your name, you can have Authory automatically find and import them.

1. Open Your Portfolio Editor

Navigate to your Portfolio Editor and select the collection you’d like to add your articles to.

2. Click “Add Work Samples”

Click the Add Work Samples button in the collection. You can always move articles between collections later.

Select a collection, then click "Add work samples"

3. Choose “Import or Upload New Content”

Select Import or upload new content, then select Articles.

4. Select “Import by Byline”

Choose the option to have Authory automatically find and import your articles from a specific website.

5. Provide an Example Article

Paste the URL of one of your articles from the publication/website you want to import from. This helps Authory find and identify your articles fully automatically.

Add URL of example article and add bylines/aliases

6. Confirm or Add Byline(s)

You'll see all the bylines/aliases that Authory is currently looking for. If you have more, you can add them anytime.

7. Name the Publication

If this is the first time importing from this site, you’ll be prompted to name the publication.

8. Choose Where to Add the Articles

You can optionally link this publication to a specific collection, so future articles from this source are automatically added.

Enable auto-update option for collection (optional)

9. Sit Back and Relax

Authory will now scan the site and import all articles with your byline. This can take up to 48 hours, but it’s usually faster. You’ll get an email notification once it’s done.

Option 2: Manually Add Articles via URL

If you wrote an article that doesn’t include your byline (such as ghostwritten or uncredited work) you can still add it manually.

1. Return to “Import or Upload New Content”

In your Portfolio Editor, click Add Work Samples, select Import or upload new content, then select "Articles" again. This time, go for the second option "I already have the URLs of the articles I'd like to import":

Select the second option: "I already have the URLs of the articles that I want to import"

2. Paste the Article URL

Paste the full URL of the article you wrote and click Add. You can also paste many URLs at once. Authory will immediately fetch the article’s title, description, image, and date.

3. Assign the Article to a Source

If this is the first article from this publication, create a new source name. Otherwise, assign it to an existing one.

4. Add to a Collection (Optional)

Like before, you can link this source to a collection for auto-organization.

5. Article Imported Instantly

Unlike full site scans, adding by URL is near-instant. A backup version of the article will be created in seconds.

Clean and neat: This is what a backed up article will look like in your account.

Option 3: Write and Publish Directly in Authory

You can also create content directly inside Authory, ideal for unpublished pieces, or using Authory as your personal blog publication.

1. Click “Add Work Samples” → “Articles” → “Write Article”

You’ll be taken to a rich text editor where you can compose your piece.

2. Format and Save

Use the editor to format your article, add links, media, and more. Once done, publish it to your portfolio.
