Elizabeth Newman is a Washington, D.C. based journalist with over 25 years of
experience as an editor, writer, reporter and journalism instructor. She previously worked at Andscape (formerly The Undefeated), The Athletic and Sports Illustrated, covering a variety of news beats and events. Newman graduated from the University of
Colorado-Boulder in 1998 with a B.A. in English Composition and Literature, and a B.S. in Journalism. Prior to graduation, she was the recipient of the Association for Women
in Sports scholarship/internship for print media, resulting in her initial placement at
Sports Illustrated as an intern, where she continued her career for the next 18 years.
In 2004 she received a M.A. in English Education and Literature from NYU, and in 2011 she was a Professional-in-Residence at Colorado’s College of Media, Communication, and Information. She has taught journalism courses at the Craig Newman Graduate School
of Journalism, and at The School of the New York Times.
