IRL (Insurance Research Letter) is a specialist publication focused on the global P&C market—designed for brokers, underwriters, risk managers, and consultants working across borders.
It is not a news product. It is a decision tool.
IRL filters the market to what actually matters, then explains why it matters and how it connects to real decisions—placements, underwriting, and global risk strategy. The aim is clarity without jargon, global context without noise, and analysis that rewards attention.
Too much of the industry can feel like dogs watching TV—you know something important is happening, but not what was said or why it mattered. IRL exists to make the market understandable, engaging, and genuinely useful.
I have spent more than forty years in international insurance, including roles with Rollins Burdick Hunter in Chicago and Aon in New York and internationally, working on multinational programs and global operations across Europe, the UK, Scandinavia, and the Middle East.
I later managed Aon’s Strategic Underwriters International MGA, focused on specialty risks including kidnap and ransom, workplace violence, and political risk—experience that reinforced how insurance functions as a strategic tool in complex environments.
Today, through Insurance Services Network, I continue to advise on global program design, compliance, and regulatory matters, while editing IRL, founded in 1966.
IRL reflects that experience: a long-view, practitioner-led perspective on how the market actually works.
