Language and history are intricately intertwined: Language is shaped by history, geography, and politics, among other factors. As an important part of cultural identity, language also influences social and political interactions, sometimes strongly impacting the course of human events.

My academic focus on this topic has proven extremely useful in my writing about language, education, culture, and—of course—history.

During my university years, I studied abroad in Ireland, France, and Italy, where I took courses on such subjects as:

  • Colonial America
  • Modern Irish History
  • French Culture and History
  • The Italian Renaissance
Il Duomo, Firenze
Il Duomo, Firenze

My undergraduate Honors Thesis, which explored the revitalization of Irish Gaelic, also brought together these two themes of langauge and history.

These days, when I'm not doing more serious historical research for content writing, I enjoy reading biographies, memoirs, annals of obscurities, and books about etymology (word histories).
