Q.: What is your hourly rate?
A.: I don’t bill by the hour. I prefer fixed-cost pricing on a project. This way, you know before I start your project, exactly how much you need to budget. And I know exactly how much I’m earning for the project. However, my pricing includes a base hourly rate that is factored in when I am working out a costing for your project.
Q.: What is your pricing structure then?
A.: My fees are a blend of hourly and project/value-based pricing. They take into consideration the scope and complexity of the project; the estimated time involved; my expertise and experience; industry standards; the value I’m adding and the problem I’m solving for you; and other factors I use to calculate the fee for your project. My pricing is fixed-fee, but not flat-rate. Every project and situation is different.
Q.: Why does your Pricing Guide indicate “starting at” rates?
A.: I’ve listed my project fees as “starting at” minimums so you know the lowest fee I’m willing to charge for the kind of project listed. I’m good at estimating for projects because I have a lot of experience. These minimums have been carefully calculated based on certain project parameters that I know from experience. However, every project is different. That’s why we need to discuss your project first, so I can provide a costing that reflects what’s involved in your specific project. My Pricing Guide is just that — a guide that can help you determine how much you need to budget.
Q.: What if I need a project turned around quickly?
A.: I'll take on a 30% surcharge to the project fee. Focusing on completing your "rush" project, means I can't work on others.
Q.: What are your terms and conditions?
A.: I won't start on your project until we have a signed Letter of Agreement or contract. I use a simple contract.
