Nani Ferreira-Mathews is an author, editorial writer, community organizer, musician, and business strategist and consultant currently living in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Nani co-owned Thread Coffee Roasters, a woman-owned B Corp Certified coffee roaster in Baltimore, Maryland, until 2025. During her time at the helm, she developed an e-commerce channel and grew the wholesale coffee program with revenue approaching $1 million annually.
Between 2021 and 2025, she served as Board member and Treasurer of Cooperative Coffees, a $25 million/year coffee importing company. Her areas of expertise are in sales operations management, HR for small businesses, P&L and financial management, and supply chain strategy.
In 2023 and 20024, Nani was nominated for a James Beard award in journalism for her work on food pathways in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Nani is Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiian), born in Oregon and raised in Georgia. Her writing focuses on race, indigeneity, decolonization, agriculture, and gender and sexuality. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Georgia State University.
