Developmental editing: A broad overview that involves analyzing documents for adherence to any applicable style guide(s) and restructuring them to improve their overall structure and flow so sure readers can more easily follow the main train of thought
Copy/line editing: A more in-depth pass that involves correcting any major grammatical or mechanical errors and rewriting sentence structures at the line level to improve reader comprehension, more concisely and clearly convey information, and ensure adherence to any applicable style guide(s)
Proofreading: A final pass for surface-level issues like typos, grammatical errors, and incorrect punctuation
Fact-checking: An additional pass (often combined with copy/line editing) to verify that links redirect to the correct page and that all included stats/factual information are correct to avoid liability issues

Pricing:

I currently charge $40/hour for all of the above services, but the amount of time I take to complete any given project varies depending on the document's complexity and length. Here's approximately how long I would take to edit a moderately well-written blog post of approximately 1,000–1,500 words:

Developmental editing only: 1–1½ hours ($40–60)
Copy/line editing and fact-checking: 1–2 hours ($40–80)
Copy/line editing only: ½–1 hour ($20–40)
Fact-checking only: ½–1 hour ($20–40)
Proofreading only: ½–¾ hour ($20–30)

Please note that the above prices are estimates and may vary depending on the length and current state of the document in question.
