I report on how government serves vulnerable populations, connecting the dots between high-level budget negotiations and policy debates and the experiences of people and communities on the ground. I have deep experience reporting on foster care and child welfare, and I've also covered juvenile justice, child care, mental health, poverty alleviation programs and affordable housing.

I have a special interest in education stories, drawn from my experience working with elementary through college students as a tutor, teaching assistant and student experience advisor.
