I started my journalism career at a small newspaper in Rhode Island. Eventually, I worked my way to Organic Gardening magazine where I worked as a senior editor for several years. After that I became editor-in-chief of National Gardening, then on the Garden Design, Eating Well, and most recently served as executive editor of Modern Farmer. I've earned several awards including a James Beard Journalism Award.
