Steve Paulson is a Peabody Award-winning journalist, podcaster and radio producer. He and Anne Strainchamps are the creators and hosts of the new podcast Wonder Cabinet.

Steve was the co-founder and executive producer of To the Best of Our Knowledge, a national public radio show from Wisconsin Public Radio and PRX. He’s also the producer and host of Luminous, a podcast about the science, philosophy and culture of psychedelics.

Steve’s radio stories have been broadcast on NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered. He has written for Salon, Nautilus, Slate, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Electric Literature and The Chronicle of Higher Education. His book, Atoms and Eden: Conversations on Religion and Science, was published by Oxford University Press.

For more than a decade, Steve co-organized and moderated an annual series of public events at the New York Academy of Sciences, including Rethinking Mortality, From Knowledge to Wisdom and The Emerging Science of Consciousness. He moderated panel discussions at the Swiss Biennial on Science, Technics & Aesthetics in Lucerne from 2016-2022. He has also moderated panels at the International Forum on Consciousness in Madison for more than a dozen years.

Steve is a fellow of the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts and Letters, and he has been a Distinguished Scholar at the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery. In 2006 he was a Templeton-Cambridge Journalism Fellow in Science and Religion.

Steve’s 35 years of radio shows on To the Best of Our Knowledge are now available, for free, in the American Archive of Public Broadcasting at the Library of Congress.
