Woodburn Independent, General Assignment Reporter

September 2024- Present

I'm currently working as a news and sports reporter with the Woodburn Independent, a hyperlocal daily newspaper. I cover everything from crime and breaking news, to city council, education, business and high school sports.

Eugene Weekly, Education + Investigative Reporter

September 2023- July 2024

I was a reporter with the Catalyst Journalism Project, the University of Oregon School of Journalism's investigative reporting partnership with Eugene Weekly. I covered the education beat, reported on the Eugene 4J school district and board and led the newspaper's investigation into the former 4J superintendent.

The Daily Emerald, Opinion Editor

January 2022- June 2024

I was the head editor of the opinion section for the University of Oregon’s student newspaper opinion column. I began as a columnist in 2021 and was promoted to editor in 2022.

Pamplin Media Group, Reporting Intern

June 2023- September 2023

I was a summer reporting intern for Pamplin at the Portland Tribune and Beaverton Valley Times, covering local news. I was selected for this position through the Charles Snowden Program of Excellence in Journalism.

SPJ Northwest Region 10 Award 2024- Education Reporting, First Place

Awarded for investigation of former Eugene School District superintendent.

Judge's comments: "Terrific job by the Eugene Weekly in persistently reporting on the Eugene School District’s superintendent controversy and his subsequent dismissal. Rightfully, the publication did an end run around the school board and developed trusted sources to bring the issue to the public and insist on accountability of the school board."

2nd Place Best Sports Story, Oregon Newspaper Publishers Association’s 2024 Collegiate Newspaper Contest

I won this award for my Daily Emerald sports feature: "UO athletes are students too." This story is an in-depth look into the lives and psyches of the 98% of student-athletes who don’t go pro.
