At Sage’s Pages, I specialize in editing fiction for all ages—children’s, young adult, and adult—as well as select nonfiction. I also provide editorial support to arts and culture organizations and nonprofits. You can browse a list of my past projects on the Portfolio page and find out more about my ideal projects to work on on the Manuscript Wish List page.

✨ Please note: I do not offer book coaching or project shepherding. I require a fully completed draft for any editing service.

🖋 Editorial Services

I base my pricing on the Editorial Freelancers Association’s recommended rates but work with clients to find a plan that fits their budget. I also offer a permanent 10% discount to authors and businesses located in the Pacific Northwest (Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Alaska, and Montana). For those interested, I am always happy to conduct a sample edit.

✅ Proofreading & Copyediting (for Authors & Businesses)

These are the final stages of the editorial process, focusing on polishing your work before publication.

Proofreading catches surface-level issues like typos, grammar, and punctuation errors.
Copyediting goes a step further, often using an in-house style guide as the basis for edits.

I ensure that your writing is clean, professional, and consistent with your brand or voice.

📚 Developmental Editing (for Authors)

Developmental editing tackles your story at the structural level—character arcs, plot, pacing, voice, and overall cohesion.

This service is ideal for authors who’ve completed a draft and want detailed feedback before moving on to line or copyediting. You’ll receive:

An Editor’s Note with a comprehensive breakdown of strengths, opportunities for growth, and next steps
A complimentary review of a revised draft after initial edits

✏️ Line Editing (for Authors)

Line editing hones the craft of your writing on a sentence-by-sentence level, enhancing flow, rhythm, clarity, and tone. This goes beyond surface-level fixes and into style and meaning.

You’ll receive:

A fully marked-up manuscript with in-line suggestions
A summary report outlining major stylistic notes and thematic observations

❤️ Sensitivity Reading (for Authors)

If your work includes topics or identities that fall outside your personal experience, a sensitivity read can help ensure respectful, authentic, and nuanced representation.

I offer sensitivity reads for themes including:

LGBTQ+ identities
Mental health
Divorce and family restructuring
Women’s/feminist issues
Rural communities and dialects (especially Appalachian and Pacific Northwest)
Horseback riding and equestrian competition

This service includes:

A read-through of your manuscript
A written report identifying areas of concern and offering actionable suggestions

All feedback is grounded in my own lived experiences and scholarly research.

Women's representation in media
Contextualizing popular culture
