Hinduja Brothers and Their 3rd Generation Members, Who Will Continue the Hinduja Legacy?
The Hinduja Group is a global conglomerate which began its journey as a small trading company, set up in the Sindh province of undivided India by its founder late Shri Parmanand Deepchand Hinduja in 1914. Later, after his death in 1971, the command of the group was passed down to his sons commonly referred as the Hinduja Brothers.
The Second Generation:
As the Hinduja Family follows the path of an Undivided Hindu family, therefore the command of the group was held by the eldest Hinduja Brother late Srichand Hinduja after his father's death. He was the patriarch of the Hinduja family and Chairman of Hinduja Group until he died in 2023. With his death, according to the Karta rule, the legacy was passed down to the second eldest brother Gopichand Hinduja. He was the longstanding co-chairman of the Hinduja Group and became the Chairman of Hinduja and Hinduja Automotive Limited in 2023. GP joined the family business in Mumbai in 1959 and is considered as one of the architects of the transformation of the group from an Indo-Middle East trading operation into a multi-billion-dollar transnational conglomerate. Apart from GP Hinduja, the second generation of Hinduja family involves Prakash Hinduja who is the Chairman of Hinduja Group Europe and Ashok Hinduja, the Chairman of Hinduja Group of companies, India, handling the operations of the group in the respective nations they live.
The Third Generation:
The Hinduja Group of companies is a global conglomerate that is spread around different nations including Switzerland, India, Europe and Middle East with businesses spanning from oil, automotive, banking, energy and much more. The group is also planning to expand its approach in the latest technologies which may include AI automation and EV sector.
The third generation of the group which includes the children of the Hinduja Brothers are taking the legacy of the group forward. They include Ajay Hinduja, Hinduja Group Promoter family; Dheeraj Hinduja, Chairman of Ashok Leyland and Sanjay Hinduja, Chairman of Gulf Oil International, amongst others who are deeply invested in taking the groups approach to fulfill the demand of the upcoming era.
Future Patriarch of the Group:
The Hinduja Family can be considered an inspiration for many other global business conglomerates due to its commercial and philanthropic endeavours. They are the true examples of the Undivided Hinduja Family, following the path shown by their father which says, “everything belongs to everybody, and nothing belongs to nobody.”
The family until now has followed the legacy passed on by their father and have been the believer of the Karta rule of Hindu family that passes down the command to the eldest most male member of the family. According to the Karta rule, the legacy of the group was passed down to the eldest Hinduja Brother, SP Hinduja after his father’s death. Later, when he died the next patriarch GP Hinduja took over the responsibility of the group and is leading the Hinduja Family. Considering the path that the family is following, it is supposed that after GP Hinduja the group’s command will be passed on to the next eldest male member of the Hinduja family, i.e. Prakash Hinduja.
