The bread and butter of any critic is the basic review—it demonstrates analytical competency and an understanding of a given medium. Collected here are the reviews I've written for WWAC.

At WWAC, we categorically eschew any kind of ranking or numbering system; at the best of times such systems are arbitrary and reduce criticism to a pass/fail mechanic. At their worst, they compress an entire art form into PR for upcoming releases.

Instead, with the understanding that reviews are subjective, our approach is to center and feature the subjectivity of the reader. With this in mind, the question to ask is not, "is this comic good?" but instead "how did this story work for me, how did it not, and why?" These questions, combined with our mandate of highlighting the voices of marginalized writers across the gender spectrum, result in offerings that are unique, and challenge the established thinking of creators and publishers.

News roundups are another way that WWAC tries to differentiate itself from other comics journalism sites. We lack the resources to provide constant, up to the minute reporting on breaking comics news, but we also dislike thoughtless lists of links to writing at other places. As such, we compromise; each Previously article is an editorial discussing major comics news of the past week. Here is a collection of all the Previously roundups I've written since I began contributing to the site in 2017. I'm proud of the way that I was able to bring context and clarity to what are often very polarizing stories, and I think this work is as vital as my review work in developing my analytical voice.
