Michael started off his journalism career as a tech freelancer, supplementing his meager publishing assistant income by covering tech events in NYC for TechRadar and Wareable. After five years of regular freelancing, he realized he enjoyed his side gig more than his main job; after moving back home to California in 2020, he started his first full-time job at Android Central as Senior Editor.
Over the next five years, he went from a jack-of-all-trades editor to focusing his expertise and passion on Wearables. Wearing multiple watches at once to compare their accuracy became his trademark, as he ran thousands of miles to test out which smartwatch brands you could trust.
During that time, Michael became AC's main attendee for west-coast events, covering conferences like CES, Galaxy Unpacked, Google I/O, GDC, AWE, Snapdragon Summit, and more. He frequently interviewed tech executives about upcoming products, incorporating what he learned into his weekly columns: Sunday Runday for fitness analysis and Wear OS Weekly (later Wearables Weekly) for Android smartwatches, smart glasses, earbuds, and more.
