Krissie Cruz is a Toronto-based writer currently seeking freelance opportunities and a full-time position. She's a lover of political discourse (but don't worry, she knows how to keep things civil), pop culture, and chronically oversharing for a good personal essay. Her writing is confessional and self-aware and she's currently wondering why she's writing in the third person for the sake of formality.
okay. let's try this again.
I’m Krissie Cruz—writer, researcher, and full-time advocate for sapphic happy endings.
With a Bachelor’s degree in Honours Political Science (specialized in Public Law & Judicial Studies), a Minor in Philosophy, and a Certificate in Applied Social Sciences Research from McMaster University, I’ve spent my academic life invested in political advocacy. I loved research so much that I wrote not one, but two theses in eight months—and yes, it was as rough of a time as you could expect.
My writing career started at Her Campus Media, where I had the pleasure of highlighting queer culture and championing underrepresented voices. Since then, I’ve been managing editorial projects for Publishing Across Diaspora, bringing the voices of the Filipino artistic community to the forefront. Writing has become my way of bridging cultures, whether through research-driven articles or creating content that resonates across identities.
I'm nothing short of adaptable when I need to be, especially when I’m diving into copywriting or research. But the main driving force of my writing is that quick-witted, flowery banter that keeps things light-hearted and fun (the way Gen Z likes it). I’m a firm believer that smart content doesn’t have to be inaccessible, and my work reflects that.
When I’m not typing away at my next big think piece, you’ll probably find me teaching someone about the nuances of sentence structure (yes, I’m that person) or brainstorming ways to better understand the world through stories, logic, and good conversation.
If you’re interested in stories that matter, culture that connects, or just need to talk about the latest queer rom-com, don't be afraid to contact me!
