Since August 2019, I have been a regular academic contributor of The Jakarta Post, Indonesia; with regular contributions to The Australian Outlook (2021 onwards); the Geopolitical Intelligence Monitor (2021 onwards) and the Diplomat (2020 onwards), and book reviewer of panindopacificbookreviews.com.
Concurrently, I have been the founder and CEO of Strategic Pan Indo Pacific Arena (Strategicpipa.com) since 2019, and the Associate Fellow of Edx.org since 2015.
Prior to my twin forays in journalism and the world of think tanking, where I wrote a dissertation on ASEAN Track 2 Diplomacy at University at Cambridge, my long career in current affairs commentary has been in the capacity of Stringer turned former Senior Writer/Correspondent of The Straits Times (Singapore in 1998-2001), invariably, The Star, Malaysia (2004-2005), a weekly contributor of the The Edge, Malaysia/Singapore (2001-2013), and twice a week contributor at the The South China Morning Post (Hong Kong in 2017-2018), and a columnist of the The Malaysia Kini (2006-2019).
When I was briefly the former Director of the Political and Security Community of the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta, Indonesia, it was a surprise that my maiden effort on Track 2 Diplomacy in 1995-1996 has become the institutional norm of ASEAN or the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.
