I’m a Texas-based freelance travel and culture writer. I write about places, food, people, history and the sometimes surprising stories hiding in plain sight. My work tends to start with a question, an observation or something I didn’t expect to find—and then I follow it wherever it goes.

I’ve been a freelance writer for more than a decade. Writing is Act II for me after spending 27 years in the United States Air Force. I’m comfortable moving between reported features, personal essays, service journalism, profiles, news and the occasional deep dive into a very specific subject. I like work that gives readers something they didn’t already know, and I’m always happy when it leaves them thinking, “Wait, really?”

I live outside San Antonio with my husband and two children.
