Jane McNally ’26 reflects on their experiences at Cornell and on The Sun.

“In 25 years, I might have one Jonathan Castagna."

If you haven’t been paying attention to men’s hockey since this year’s season came to an end on March 27, welcome back. There's a lot to catch up on.

"I decided to enter the portal because we thought — my family and my adviser — that I could get a better opportunity. And Wisconsin reached out right after so it worked out pretty well."

First rumored by College Hockey Insider founder and publisher Mike McMahon on X Tuesday afternoon, the move became official Wednesday morning.

“It's tough to put to words how much this really means to me.”

The decision means Stanley will forgo his final season of collegiate eligibility.

“In order to be the best, you’ve got to play against the best. And they were the better team tonight.”

“I haven't forgotten what happened. A lot of guys haven't forgotten what happened two years ago now.”

“We came out of every different direction. Once he was on the market, it was like, ‘Hey, we need this guy.’”

Cornell will take on Denver in the NCAA regional semifinal at 6 p.m. EST on Friday in Loveland, Colorado.

“At no point do we feel we found our game in that 60 minutes.”

Cornell took a shocking 3-2 loss in the first game of ECAC playoffs in Lake Placid. The Sun breaks down what went right — and what went wrong — in the Red's first neutral-site match of the postseason.

“For us, more or less, it just shows that there's a consistency with building a program. We’re hoping that have a crack at it every year. You want your guys to have a crack at it every year, right? And to say that you're going to win it on a regular basis is tough.”

“From this way out, baby, it's one-and-done,” Jones said. “So you gotta manage game and play properly.”

After dropping game one on Friday night and bouncing back on Saturday, the Red hung on to beat the Crimson on Sunday, ending Harvard’s season and capping off an impressive 15-3 record at Lynah Rink.

“It was a good version of ourselves tonight,” said head coach Casey Jones ’90. “Pretty complete game for us, good response by our guys in terms of some urgency.”

“I think we just have to be better as a team collectively. I didn't think we were as connected as we need to be in the way we play. So we just got to be better tomorrow.”
