Published content in relation to the Thanksgiving Day 2021 murder of Troy, Ill. businesswoman Leslie Reeves and the attempted murder of her date, Christopher Smith, in Farmersville, Ill.

51-year-old Robert "Bobby" Tarr was convicted of the crime in May 2024 and is currently serving an 85-year prison sentence at Lawrence Correctional Center, a maximum-security facility located in Sumner, Illinois. Since August 2024, Tarr and attorney Daniel Fultz have attempted to appeal the conviction to the appellate court level, but the Appellate Court of the Fifth District has not indicated that an appeal has been granted.

Smith filed a tort lawsuit against Tarr after the trial in relation to the shooting in Montgomery County civil court, which is still ongoing.

Coverage began for the Troy Times-Tribune (and while not listed, the Nokomis Free Press-Progress) before transitioning to Heartland Newsfeed and the Free Press-Progress.
