GARRETT EISLER holds a PhD in Theater History from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York (CUNY). He has written several articles for American Theatre magazine and his scholarship has been published in Journal of American Drama and Theatre, Studies in Musical Theatre, New England Theatre Journal, and The Eugene O’Neill Review.
Garret has taught in theater programs at New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts, The New School’s Eugene Lang College, Brooklyn College, and Boston University. As a theater professional, he has worked as the literary manager for Syracuse Stage and has written dramatic criticism for the Village Voice and Time Out New York.
From 2005 to 2013, he wrote the theater blog The Playgoer (www.playgoer.org), a collection of reviews, reporting, and essays on the theater of the day.
