Boe Meh hoped for diapers, but Bidwell Pantry on Des Moines' south side was out the Friday morning she visited. Those kinds of items — baby food, formula and personal toiletries — tend to go quickly and are tough to keep shelved.
"It's OK," said the expectant mother, who on Aug. 9 drove from Marshalltown to the pantry an hour away also seeking a three-day supply of food. She likes how easy the pantry's intake process is compared to other places.
