About Me

I've always been fascinated by the sea, perhaps because I grew up in the English midlands, about as far from it as possible in the UK. I now live in Northumberland with a sea view from my desk (just!). I've worked in marine conservation since completing my Master's in Conservation in 2013, which has taken me to so many of my favourite places - islands and seabird colonies.

I'm currently studying for a Master’s in Nature and Travel Writing from Bath Spa University. I was highly commended for the Bradt New Travel Writer of the Year Award 2025 and shortlisted in The Nature Writing Prize for Working Class Writers.
