Florida Student News Watch
I founded and continue to direct a student journalism mentorship program that pairs writing students one-on-one with professional writers and journalists to cover environmental topics in Florida.
In 2024 we became a nonprofit with a board consisting of myself, freelance journalist Ashira Morris, and outdoors and disabilities writer Christian McMahon. We now include journalist and English teacher Casey Chapter on our board, who was an original member of the organization in its early years.
Mentors include the board, Alex Harris of the Miami Herald, Max Chesnes of the Tampa Bay Times, Torsheta Jackson of the Mississippi Free Press, Yacob Reyes of Axios, and Ashley White of the Acadiana Advocate in Louisiana.

We pay all our student writers $0.10/word for their published work.
