Daina (pronounced "dey-na," or like "reina" in Spanish) is a journalist at leading news agency Reuters, where her work has spanned the immigration crisis at the U.S.-Mexico border, Latin America's e-commerce boom and Chile's lithium ambitions across its vast salt flats.
As Acting Latin America Breaking News Editor, she currently oversees teams in Mexico, Brazil and Chile that drive fast, accurate, and unbiased coverage across the region. She was previously based in Santiago, Chile as Latin America Mining Correspondent, focusing on the copper and lithium industries, and before that covered business, immigration and breaking news for Reuters out of Mexico City. She hold a Master's Degree in Journalism from the University of Southern California in her hometown of Los Angeles. When off the computer, you can find her dancing tango or scoping out cafes and museums with friends.
