About Charlie Brigden

Charlie Brigden is a writer living in South Wales in the UK. A longtime fan of film music since listening to music from "Star Wars" as a child in the '80s, he has since parlayed this into a freelance career. Beginning with DVD and later Blu-ray reviews for internet outlets, he later specialised in reviewing film and media soundtracks, writing for places such as Film Score Monthly Online and The Quietus. He has written features for Roger Ebert, Fangoria, and Polygon, and has a regular film music column for print magazine Film Stories.

Charlie has also written several liner notes and booklet essays for physical media releases, starting with writing sales copy and later obi notes for the UK's Death Waltz Records. His first significant contribution was writing about Akira Ifukube's music for a Death Waltz release of "Godzilla" in 2014 on vinyl, going on to write notes for the likes of Mondo, Mutant, and Sony Classical. He has also written essays for Blu-rays from Indicator, Arrow, and Radiance, and was involved in the award-winning 4K releases of "Seven Samurai" and "Watership Down," both from the BFI.

Charlie is available for freelance work and can be contacted through the link in the top-right hand corner.
