Hi! I'm Anna McLean. I'm a University of Michigan undergraduate, student journalist, and unapologetic em-dash lover. I’m majoring in Political Science and minoring in Law, Justice, and Social Change in the LSA Honors Program, where I'm learning what it takes to tell stories that resonate with my community and incite change. Today, my work has appeared on NBC News, ABC, CBS, FOX News, and The Hill.
Currently, I'm serving as a Co-Anchor in WOLV-TV's pilot episode of Wake Up, Wolverines, a dedicated morning-style show where I aid in writing and delivering broadcast scripts. I am also serving as a general Production Crew Member in WOLV-TV where I rotate among production roles, aiding in writing scripts and serving as director, technical director, camera operator and floor manager.
Formerly, I interned with NBC News with their Social Newsgathering team, where I was responsible for using digital platforms to find user-generated content, verifying social media-sourced content, interviewing sources and obtaining information for the network's coverage. I also previously served as the Managing Editor of Focal Point, The Michigan Daily's dedicated investigative journalism section. In the future, I hope to work in newsrooms that produce impactful reporting, whether through investigations, political coverage or narrative-driven stories that capture the true humanity of the news.
When I’m not chasing a story, you’ll likely find me with a beach read in hand, sipping a matcha, or posting pictures of my adorable cat, Juno.
