In February 2020, immediately after Hannah Clarke and her three young children were murdered, I surveyed overseas legislation to find laws that might better protect women and children from intimate partner homicide and familicide. The Guardian published my article ten days later, preseting coercive control as the pattern of behaviours that is highly correlated with intimate partner murders. Qld and NSW have already legislated and the other Australian states are now preparing to criminalise these behaviours.
