If you're creating your first copywriting portfolio website, start with the basics of copywriting. Once you've got that down, it's time to upgrade from the basics to a great copywriter website.

Hence, consider these portfolios the benchmarks to touch when building your portfolio page. After you are done, I'll also introduce a tool that help you put together such a portfolio with surprisingly low effort. But more on that later.

TL;DR:• The best copywriter portfolio websites are the ones that get you consistent, highly paid work. If you send your portfolio to potential clients, they have every right to expect it will "wow" them, as the oldies like to say (I am an oldie).• If you already know the basics of copywriting, you're in the right article. Nick Sutherland — creative copywriting for sports publications

Nick Sutherland says very little about himself in his portfolio. He is a freelance copywriter whose portfolio site shows publications at GiveMeSport and Sportskeeda. This is an excellent copywriting website example for folks who prefer to let only their best copywriting do the talking.

Elizabeth Smith — product copywriter

Elizabeth Smith is a former college professor and wine club manager who is now an award-winning writer, copywriter, and competition judge for both wine and writing.

She has won multiple awards — the 2017 Born Digital Wine Award for Best Tourism Content with a Focus on Wine and the 2022 Koch Winery category in the annual Hungarian Wines Web Wine Writing Competition. She was also a finalist in the 2023 Wine Travel Awards "The Brightest Journey" category and served as a judge at the 2023 Winelovers Wine Awards Competition in Budapest and the Open Balkan Wine Trophy in Belgrade.

Elizabeth is a member of the Circle of Wine Writers, Les Dames d’Escoffier International Sacramento and Sonoma chapters, and the International Food, Wine, and Travel Writers Association.

The Copy Canary — professional website copy that converts

The Copy Canary is a one-woman agency that provides a wide range of creative writing services — website copy, ad copy, brand identity development, grant writing, print copy, business writing, content marketing, strategic consulting, and more.

Her homepage is particularly eye-catching. She leads with social proof and opens with the promise of great copy that gets the job done. Along with this straightforward approach, she also uses quirky imagery and font. This points to a creative streak that a lot of commercial brands need to stay relevant with a modern audience.

Kristin Macintyre — website copywriting from a strategist

Kristin Macintyre’s copywriter portfolio

Kristin Macintyre went from teaching freshmen how to write poems and research papers at a major university. Now she writes "copy that connects, communicates and converts." She is also a strategist and puts in the 360-degree research required to write copy that gets people to click "Sign Up" or "Buy Now."

Bigmouth Copy — when website design conveys quality

One look at Bigmouth Copy and you'll know that owner Taylor De La Fuente serves a very specific kind of client. If you're interested in an unpredictable but effective copy, this is the place to be. Visit for the user experience if nothing else; it's absolutely delightful.

While copywriters don't always focus on the aesthetics of their website (and it isn't always necessary), visuals can be very effective in convincing the right clients to hire you. If someone is into Taylor's bubblegum-punk rock vibe, they'll also definitely love her work.

Meg Peery — copywriter and marketing assistant for small businesses

Meg Peery is a copywriter who also acts as a marketing assistant for businesses just starting out on their operations. To quote her website,

I partner with small business owners to get their marketing done.

Her skills cover marketing audits, systems audits, market research, active marketing efforts, brand audits, and more. She is the very definition of a "Jack of All Trades."

Carline Anglade-Cole — 3x awarded copywriter

Carline Anglade-Cole’s copywriter portfolio

Carline Anglade-Cole is a 3X award-winning Direct-Response copywriter, author & consultant. Unlike other portfolios you see, her homepage starts with a video of herself in which she directly addresses the visitor. She openly admits that her "crazy style of writing" and "crazier style of teaching" (as a mentor) doesn't fit everyone, and her first priority is getting to know a prospective client.

Carline has been on Dr. Oz, has created promos for Oprah, and has even been roasted by her mentor and daughters. She directs people to these particular experiences as they showcase how good she is at her job, and that she can also take a joke.

Carline's unique personality, as well as every testimonial on her website, really distinguish her as an industry veteran who knows how to attract the right attention for her clients. Her web design is actually quite barebones, but you don't notice it because her words alone take up so much attention.

Create a perfect copywriting portfolio in about 48 hours with Authory

Note: If you want a large measure of control over the aesthetics of your portfolio (a specialized template, font options, etc.), consider Squarespace or WordPress.

If you want to build your first portfolio and you already have a significant amount of published work, Authory can help. This dedicated portfolio-building tool is equipped with a very significant advantage over others — it does most of the work automatically.

Authory can automatically import content from any specific URL as long as it is bylined. Essentially, you enter a URL, and Authory finds every single bylined piece on that site. Then, it imports a copy of that work to its internal databases — a repository that can only be accessed by you.

Let's talk about what you get when you sign up for a FREE Authory account:

Auto-updating portfolio

Given that you should, ideally, look to add ALL your content to your portfolio to showcase the breadth and depth of your work, an automatic portfolio builder like Authory is a blessing. There's no need to keep updating your portfolio because Authory will do that for you.

Collections

With collections, you can organize ALL your content into public and/or private sections to share with specific clients. In fact, you can build a collection for each gig application if you so choose!

Assurance that your writing is AI-free

Authory offers, by default, a Human Writer Certificate. The tool stores and maintains an archive of every customer’s content. Instead of looking at their writing in isolation, Authory’s AI-detection algorithm looks at the writer’s ENTIRE publication history. This allows it to recognize, internalize, and judge each writer’s personal writing style closely, almost without inaccuracy.

By doing so, this portfolio builder can also definitively state that you do not use any AI tools or editors to generate content. If you're curious about knowing more, check out the video below.

Content backup

Websites go down, content gets re-bylined, and people constantly lose access to their work. With Authory, that'll never be an issue because it backs up all your content in their original formats — no measly screenshots here — so your work is safeguarded forever.

Sign up for your free trial

There's a lot, LOT more, but I can't write about all of it without bloating this article to an unreadable standard. Instead, why not try Authory's free 14-day trial? Build your portfolio in about 3 minutes, and let's take it from there.
