Authory has been designed to make it as easy as possible to import (and back up) all your published content from elsewhere. However, you can also publish articles directly with your Authory account. Essentially, you can use Authory as your very own blog.

Please note this is currently only possible from a desktop device/computer, not from your smartphone.

Here is how:

Click the "Add content" button on your portfolio (authory.com/app/portfolio) or on any collection or on your Content Archive:

Select "Import or upload new content", then select "Article" as the content type you'd like to add. On the next screen, select "I want to write an article on Authory":

You'll be forwarded to our text editor:

You can write your text or copy&paste it from elsewhere. In order to add images, videos or embeds of Instagram posts, start a new line and click the icon that appears on the left at the beginning of the line:

Selecting any part of the text will open a text editing bar:

Once you are done, click "Publish" and your article will be published. You can then add it to your portfolio, or to any collection (if you've clicked the "Add content" button on your portfolio or on a collection details page, the article has already been added to said collection automatically).

You can also share a public link to your article. You'll find that link in the top bar on the article details page:

Good to know:

  • You can only publish articles currently, it's not possible to upload videos or podcasts directly (you can import them of course, but you can't upload them).

  • By default, your articles will be published attached to your Authory source. By default it's called "Firstname on Authory". You can change the name of this publication anytime though. If you want to change the source for the article you are publishing, then simply use the dropdown to select another one.
