The Democratic nominee in the race to replace Rep. Katie Porter (D-Calif.) released his first television advertisement for the 2024 election amid a six-figure ad buy, his campaign announced Tuesday.

The advertisement focuses on California state Sen. Dave Min’s endorsements from key Democrats, including Porter, and his work in the statehouse, his campaign said in a press release.

“California Democrats are united behind one candidate: Dave Min,” the narrator in the advertisement states.

It continues: “The son of Korean immigrants, State Senator Dave Min has taken on the gun lobby, corporate polluters, and MAGA extremists who’ve tried to hijack our schools. Dave authored legislation to protect abortion, and is rated 100% by Planned Parenthood.”

Min is running for the competitive district which is being vacated by Porter because she is vying for late Sen. Dianne Feinstein’s open seat. The House seat is considered “Lean” Democratic by the Cook Political Report with Amy Walter, but is a target district for Republicans looking to expand their majority in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Min is facing multiple Republican candidates, like Scott Baugh and Max Ukropina, as well as fellow Democrat Joanna Weiss. Although Weiss did not secure the Democratic nomination, she has continued to fundraise and pick up additional endorsements.

California has a top-two primary system, so regardless of party affiliation, the top two vote-getters will move on to the general election in November.
