Volcanic eruptions are some of the most powerful forces in the world, creating mountains and deep craters across the United States. Photographer and pilot Jassen Todorov, 41, has captured stunning aerials of some of America’s most dramatic volcanoes and craters.

His images capture such varied landscapes as the crater-filled Maricopa Mountains in Arizona, the constantly erupting Puʻu ʻŌʻō volcano, and the active Halemaʻumaʻu pit Crater, home to a colorful lava lake. Other stunning sights he has flown over include Mount Shasta (a potentially active volcano and the second highest peak in the Cascade Mountain Range of California), Crater Lake in Oregon (the deepest lake in North America) and the breathtaking Sunset Crater Volcano in Arizona.
