She Means Business is a series on local businesses owned and operated by women.

You know that friend with the great sense of humor? You want to get her a gift – something a little more fun than a picture frame or a couple of candles.
You spot the window outside Five Love, which says, “This is where the fun stuff happens.” That’s when you stroll in, and the fun begins. Try not to put everything owner Amy Pepe has tucked into her Chatsworth Avenue shop into your basket.
It won’t be easy.
Personally, I headed straight for the cocktail napkins inscribed, “Sometimes I drink a glass of water just to surprise my liver.”

Did I mention candles? There are candles here labelled “Smells like a slightly above average tennis player,” and “Boy Smells.” And matches for those candles, like the ones labelled, “I put the fun… in dysfunctional.” If your gift recipient has been in a bad mood lately, grab a mug with the slogan, “I’m too old for this shit!”

“I decided to open the store because I felt like our town needed a fun gift shop,” says Pepe, “where I could make people laugh, feel good, and just have a great time.”
Maybe being a Larchmont mom with five kids is what gives her a great sense of humor. Her first job out of college was working for the New York Gift Building (150 wholesale gift showrooms,) and she then became a graphic designer until raising her family became a full time job.
Now it’s all about finding funny books, bottles, trays, napkins, tote bags, pillows …come on in and see what I left out.
Opening the business was a “really scary shot,” she says, “but I absolutely love it. I’m so grateful that most people here share my crazy sense of humor!”
