All this heat, and you can’t go to the beach, at least in some parts of Mamaroneck, Rye and New Rochelle.
Westchester County Health Dept. has closed these beaches for Wednesday, June 9, due to .67 inches of rainfall over 24 hours:
NEW ROCHELLE: Hudson Park Beach, Davenport Beach Club, Greentree Country Club and Surf Club on the Sound
MAMARONECK: Harbor Island Park, Beach Point Club, Orienta Beach Club and Mamaroneck Beach and Yacht Club
RYE: Coveleigh Club
The issue is bacterial contamination from road runoff into drainage outfalls near these beaches. The beaches may reopen tomorrow.
