She Means Business is a series on local businesses owned and operated by women.

My friend Sylvia has never worn a dress or skirt for which I didn’t ask, “Where’d you get that?” Then, she took me to Saujette. That’s when I found the answer.

“It’s what I call accessible luxury,” says owner Hannah Saujet, a former Stylist at Saks Fifth Avenue. “My gift is finding niche things with great quality,” from French, Italian, Indian, Argentinian, and Spanish designers.  The name of the store, she says, is “the feminization of my own name.”

Have a champagne or espresso while you browse. “You can buy a really nice dress for $250, capped at about $1000.”  Considered expensive, she admits, but, she says, classic silhouettes that will be worn for many years. And only a few of each style is are available. And all have one particular detail — all have pockets.

“I don’t buy deep,” Saujette? says. “It’s a small town, I don’t want you having the same dress as someone else.”

Saujette has also started her own label, which you can find on her website. There, you can also book a complimentary in-person or zoom shopping or styling consultation.

What does my friend Sylvia have to say?

“The styles and quality of Saujette’s clothing endure: the additions to my closet are timeless and fabulous – In fifty years, my daughters will wear them!”

The formula has worked so well that a second location opened this year on Jobs Lane in Southampton, where, she says, the store was “on fire” this summer.

Hannah and her family live in Larchmont.
