I walked by LOR-AINE 1986 a few times with no idea what I was missing: a stylish boutique with the feel of a secret, filled with curated clothing, floral bouquets, perfumes and gifts for both women and men. But the main event here is the jewelry: original small makers and her own hand-made pieces you will not find anywhere else.
LOR-AINE 1986 is part of the recent growth of specialized retail on the Boston Post Road in downtown Larchmont. Founder and Designer Ariane Lauer, who began with a small shop on Etsy, is celebrating the store’s one year anniversary this month, and in that year has become a go-to for original jewelry–many of her customers bring her vintage rings and pins to repurpose; family heirlooms that need a little update.
“We’ve become known, even in this short year,” says Lauer, “for redesigning clients’ inherited pieces that may not suit their current style but still hold significant sentimental value.”
In the back of the store, she runs a jewelry workshop where you can take classes. For example, on Sept. 12, you can make your own diamond ring! She also teaches floral arranging. Lauer has hosted events: a comedy night, jazz, and wine tastings.

And she feels she’s come to the right place: “I extensively explored Westchester and consistently found myself drawn back to Larchmont. I recognized the significant potential for growth within a community that is warm, inviting, diverse, and desires an elevated local shopping experience.”
