"It's a place for Cub Scouts to go to do activities to get your badge," said Cub Scout Rhodes Conover.
According to Conover, a scout has to earn 20 activity badges to advance. He is currently going for Webelos. Webelos are boys who have completed third grade or reached age 10. Recent badges Conover has earned in camp are engineering (he had to draw four plans) and art. He got to ride a hovercraft. His favorite activity? Archery. "It's probably one of my best things," he said.
The 12 core values of Cub Scouts are citizenship, compassion, cooperation, courage, faith, health and fitness, honesty, perserverence, positive attitude, resourcefulness, respect and responsibility. These positive character traits are practiced through activities and in working toward badges.
There are several Cub Scout packs across Collier County, and all were welcome to participate in the day camp each summer.
