One of Switzerland’s prettiest Alpine towns is bringing together some of the world’s top chefs and winemakers for a brand new food and wine festival launching next summer. The inaugural Gstaad Wine and Food Festival, founded by Whispering Angel rosé creator Sacha Lichine, is set to run from June 24 to 27, 2027.

The four-day festival will include tastings, master classes, and appearances by industry titans including Alain Ducasse, one of only two chefs in the world whose restaurants have earned 21 Michelin stars; Cédric Grolet, one of the world’s most-celebrated pastry chefs; and Gastón Acurio, whose dozens of restaurants are credited with bringing Peruvian cuisine to the world’s stage. Several top wineries, including Dom Pérignon, Château Palmer, and Château Cheval Blanc, from the Champagne and Bordeaux regions of France, are also set to participate.

“Some of the most special moments in wine and food happen when exceptional people come together in an exceptional place,” Sacha Lichine told T+L in a statement. Lichine is a Bordeaux native and the son of Alexis Lichine, a Russian-born entrepreneur credited with helping shape modern wine education and marketing. He is also the owner of Château d’Esclans in Provence, which produces the popular Whispering Angel rosé.

Lichine was born in France, but he’s since planted roots in Switzerland. He bought a chalet in Gstaad in 2021, and several of his children attended the prestigious Swiss boarding school, Institut Le Rosey.

While the event is meant to be a celebration of food and wine, it will also serve as a celebration of Gstaad. With a car-free promenade, luxury shopping, and a collection of 5-star hotels (such as the family-owned Gstaad Palace), the resort town in the German-speaking region of southwestern Switzerland is one of the country’s most glamorous Alpine destinations.

The Le Grand Bellevue, a family-owned luxury hotel with a 32,000-square-foot spa, will be the event’s host hotel, though venues for the festival will include spaces at other hotels, local restaurants, private chalets, and mountain outposts. The festival agenda includes cheese and chocolate master classes, a fondue lunch, a mountainside dinner, a concert, and the chance to cook with a celebrity chef. There’s also a Cigars & Spirits after-dinner experience curated by the London luxury cigar specialist ManuH Cigars.

Tickets for the Gstaad Wine and Food Festival will go on sale in early 2027, and more information on ticket sales will be available at gstaadwineandfood.ch. A portion of the proceeds from the event will be used to fund scholarships for emerging hospitality professionals.
