Karen Page has more than enough reasons to leave Hell’s Kitchen behind that nobody could blame her for packing a bag. Getting close to Matt Murdock has hardly made her life safer, and her own pursuit of the truth has put her in the path of people who can make someone disappear. But Deborah Ann Woll has made Karen’s determination so compelling that watching her choose to stay involved can be just as satisfying as seeing Daredevil win a fight.
That makes her eventual goodbye one of the harder parts of Daredevil: Born Again coming to an end. Karen has a life beyond whatever is happening with Matt, and following her through it has been a substantial part of the show’s appeal. After more than a decade with the character, there is a lot riding on where the series chooses to leave her. During an interview with Collider’s Maggie Lovitt for her new thriller The Cycle, Woll was asked how longtime fans would feel about Karen’s ending. “Gosh, that's such a hard question to answer without spoiling too much,” she admitted. The actress then discussed the years she has spent with the character:
“Ultimately, I think, you know, this has been 12 years of my life and of Karen's life. And I don't think any of their stories end, right? So my hope would be that by the end of this, you feel like there's a logical conclusion to the arc that she's been on, which is what is it to be a hero, right?”
Deborah Ann Woll Looks Beyond Karen Page’s Final Scene

The question of heroism is particularly relevant for a character whose place in this world has never depended on having special abilities. Karen’s investigations have repeatedly brought her into conflict with people capable of destroying lives, and knowing that has not always been enough to make her walk away. Woll continued her answer by discussing what she hopes viewers can imagine beyond Karen’s final appearance:
“And can you be your own hero on some level? And also that she's going to step off into a new adventure, right? When the screen fades to black, she's just gonna go stop another kingpin, right? That this is just the beginning of a new chapter on some level.”
That's a fitting image for Karen, who has never had much luck keeping a safe distance from a dangerous story. Her determination has given her an active role in the fight for Hell’s Kitchen, even when she is surrounded by people better equipped to survive its violence. It also gives her a future worth wondering about after the audience has to leave her behind. Woll kept the circumstances of Karen’s ending under wraps, leaving fans to discover how that final chapter unfolds. Her answer offers no names, final confrontations, or details about where Karen might end up. For now, the possibility of another Kingpin waiting to be taken down is a fitting thought to carry into her farewell.
You can see Woll next in The Cycle when it arrives this week on AMC+ and Shudder on October 23. Stay tuned at Collider for Lovitt's full conversation with Woll.
