Hi, I’m Jill Pantozzi. You may know me better as The Nerdy Bird...Now give me all your money.

Ok, I really only want some of your money and I promise you’ll get awesome content out of it. Yes, it’s true, I’ve got a Patreon now. Patreons are cool.

In 2008 I created TheNerdyBird.com to blog about all things nerdy. I had gone to school for journalism, took a detour as a Radio DJ for a few years, but wanted to get back into writing. Before long I started paid freelancing jobs at a few pop culture websites and skipping ahead a few more years would find me reporting on geeky entertainment as a full-time job. It was the coolest thing I could have asked for but it also completely burned me out. No seriously, my hair used to be curly, remember? So what to do? Well, some time off was in order.

"Ooh, BSG marathon!"

"Hehehehe Starbuck, you're the best!"

"Apollo, you're the worst."

"Said the joker to the thief, there's too much confusion..."

[muffled] "All this happened before, all this will happen again."

But where to go from here? I suppose I could try to go work for someone else full-time. I could go back to freelancing full-time. I decided what I really wanted to do was continue reporting on entertainment but as my own boss. That’s where you come in. No, you know what I like:

I like Batman. ("Now kiss!") I like dragons. I like Harry Potter. I like living in the past and looking to the future. But most of all, I like telling all of you about those things! And I can keep doing that: reporting on the entertainment news you’re interested in as well as being critical of it when necessary, interviewing actors and creators, sharing amazing cosplay and toys -- without any rules, without any ads, with your help.

Right now I have around 28,000 followers on Twitter. If every single one of them gave $2 a month I’d make $56,000 a month, $672,000 a year (minus Patreon fees). Obviously, I don’t need that much money to live on, though I could think of a few good ways to spend it.

While not all of my followers will be able to support me as a Patron, for every one of you who can and will, what you're doing as we move forward is making it possible for me to not only earn a living while bringing you content I hope will engage your imagination, but eventually pay other writers and generate fun extras like video content both on TheNerdyBird.com as well as my social media pages. And don’t pretend like you don’t love my cats too.

You won't just be helping me, you’ll be helping to create a stable platform that will work to produce content with integrity for all fans. Sound like something you’d be interested in?

Click on over to my Patreon page or, if you’re already there, click the “become a Patron” button. And if you’re one of those awesome folks who’s already pledged your support, thank you.
