KASEYA CONNECT — Four thousand managed service provider (MSP) execs, vendor reps and more will head home Thursday after four days of Kaseya Connect, the IT management software company's annual event in Las Vegas.

Attendees heard all about Kaseya's new product innovations and a new version of the company's 365 subscription service. MSPs learned about the latest M&A trends to help them consider the valuation of their companies and an ever-increasing focus on cybersecurity from Kaseya.

What they didn't hear was an update on a new CEO after longtime chief executive Fred Voccola announced earlier this year he would step down from the role and serve as vice chairman of the board. The company is in the midst of a search for his replacement.

Voccola told us in February that the decision for him to step away from running Kaseya day-to-day, "80 hours a week," was seven or eight months in the making, part of the company's evolution.

So perhaps the most important message coming out of Kaseya Connect, as Canalys' Jessica Davis wrote on LinkedIn, revolves around the continuity among the remaining execs. (Canalys is part of Omdia, Channel Futures' sister research and analyst firm.)

"With CEO Fred Voccola’s departure still fresh," Davis wrote, "many wondered how Kaseya would navigate the void in top leadership. What we saw instead ... was a coordinated response across the executive bench. Senior leaders stepped up to deliver a cohesive message and road map for partners. ... In a moment where the absence of a CEO could have left a leadership vacuum, Kaseya showed something different: operational momentum, strategic clarity, and a strong bench."

Meantime, the expo hall at Kaseya Connect attracted dozens of vendors that work with Kaseya. They presented their latest innovations and met with prospective MSP partners.

Our slideshow above features Sherweb, CyberQP, CyberFox, Senteon, Thread and Syncro.
