This Abandoned Dog Now Has a Full-Time Job at a Gas Station

World, meet Negão, an abandoned pup who is now a full-time gas station employee with a loving family. The older dog was seen wandering around a Shell gas station in the town of Mogi das Cruzes, Brazil, when it was still under construction.

Sabrina Plannerer and her partner purchased the gas station, which is when they met their new best friend.

“So the first time I saw Negão he was already living on the land,” Plannerer told Care.com. “At the time I had no doubt in adopting him.”

The decision to take in the lonely dog was easy for Plannerer.

“I am an eternal lover of animals. I always rescue dogs and cats from the streets,” she said. “I never turn my back on an animal. I love them too much!”

Negão seemed to really like the gas station, which did worry his new owner a bit.

“My biggest concern was that when we opened it, he would try to cross the avenue and could suffer an accident,” Plannerer said. “But thank God he never left our side!”

Since Negão had been left by his previous owners, he did need some trips to a veterinarian’s office.

“He used to have a lot of fleas and ticks before,” Plannerer said. “We took him to the vet and did all the necessary tests, vaccinated and wormed.”

Plannerer and her partner also “bought him food, a dog house and a leash to take him on walks,” she told The Dodo.

But Negão is a very lovable dog and wanted to help out his new family around the gas station, too. So they gave the pup an employee ID card and a company hat.

“People love Negão! He is very affectionate with everyone,” Plannerer told Care.com.

The happy dog turned out to be a natural when it comes to customer service.

“Negão waits for people to arrive and then goes up to say hello, winning them over with his charms,” Plannerer said. “Customers love him. Some people even bring him toys.”

Plannerer explained her relationship with rescue animals, “I try to do everything I can to help.”

She hopes Negão’s story inspires more people to help abandoned pets.
