The spotlight in women’s college basketball right now belongs to one program—and it’s not even close. The UConn Huskies women's basketball are dominating the national conversation, powered by two of the brightest stars in the game: Azzi Fudd and Sarah Strong.

This week, that dominance reached another level.

Both Fudd and Strong were officially named finalists for the prestigious Naismith Player of the Year—a recognition reserved for the very best players in the country and a clear reflection of UConn’s overwhelming presence this season.

A Dynamic Duo Driving Perfection

It’s rare for one team to place two players on the Naismith shortlist. It’s even rarer for those two players to be the driving force behind an undefeated powerhouse.

But that’s exactly what Fudd and Strong have done.

Strong, the versatile forward, has been nothing short of dominant across the board. Averaging over 18 points per game while leading the team in rebounds, steals, and blocks, she has established herself as one of the most complete players in college basketball. Her efficiency and consistency—scoring in double figures in nearly every game—have made her the engine behind UConn’s success.

Meanwhile, Fudd has delivered a career-best season, showcasing elite scoring ability and sharpshooting that stretches defenses to their breaking point. Averaging nearly 18 points per game on outstanding shooting splits, she has provided the offensive firepower that makes UConn nearly impossible to guard.

Together, they’ve formed arguably the most dangerous duo in the country.

More Than Stats—It’s Dominance

UConn isn’t just winning they’re overwhelming opponents.

The Huskies entered this stretch undefeated, steamrolling through the Big East and into the NCAA Tournament with a level of control that few teams in recent history have matched.

And when the lights shine brightest, Fudd and Strong deliver.

Fudd’s explosive scoring performances including a 34-point outburst in tournament play have electrified fans, while Strong’s all-around brilliance continues to set the standard on both ends of the floor.

A Legacy in the Making

UConn is no stranger to greatness. Legends have come through Storrs and left their mark on the sport.

Now, Fudd and Strong are writing their own chapter.

With both players earning First-Team All-American honors and standing among the final four candidates for the Naismith award, their impact is undeniable.

But the biggest prize still looms.

As March Madness intensifies, the Huskies are chasing more than individual accolades—they’re chasing another national title. And with Fudd and Strong leading the charge, UConn isn’t just part of the conversation.

They are the conversation!
