Both of my sonic machines have MIDI input ports, which got me thinking about the MIDI protocol and writing some code as a foundation for generative machine music. And, guess what? If you've got a Teensy microcontroller development board (version 3.2, in this case) then you're only a few commands away from building your own MIDI controller.
