Kentucky quarterback Kenny Minchey calls a play at the line of scrimmage in the Wildcats' win over LSU.

Will Stein’s Wildcats earn their highest ranking in four years, while Indiana sets up a Top 5 showdown with Ohio State.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB+WAVE) — Following a 35-34 upset of No. 10 LSU on Saturday, the University of Kentucky has re-entered the Associated Press Top 25 at No. 15.

It’s the highest ranking for the Wildcats since Oct. 9, 2022.

Kentucky, under first-year coach Will Stein, is 5-1 overall and 3-1 in the SEC against a schedule rated No. 5 nationally by Jeff Sagarin’s computer formula.

The Wildcats already have road wins over Texas A&M and South Carolina, along with Saturday’s upset of LSU, giving Stein three significant SEC victories in his first six games.

Kentucky remained unranked despite its overtime victory at South Carolina a week earlier. Now the Wildcats head to Norman, Okla., to face an Oklahoma team coming off an upset of No. 1 Texas. The Sooners are unranked despite that victory and opened as 6.5-point favorites over Kentucky.

Indiana, meanwhile, climbed to No. 5 after a 20-17 victory over previously unbeaten Nebraska on Saturday.

The defending national champion Hoosiers return to the Top 5 just in time for a showdown with No. 4 Ohio State in Bloomington on Saturday at noon. The Buckeyes opened as 4.5-point favorites in a matchup that will put two of the nation’s top five teams on the same field.

Georgia, fresh off its victory over Alabama, moved into the No. 1 spot, followed by Notre Dame and Miami.

LSU dropped to No. 22 after its loss in Lexington.
