🚨🚨 Calling all #dualuse #space #startups and small businesses! The second ever #NASA #SBIR #IGNITE solicitation is NOW LIVE. SBIR Ignite provides a way for #smallbusinesses that have a commercially viable #technology idea to use NASA as a stepping stone in their path towards #commercial success. With a greater emphasis on #commercialization, SBIR Ignite funds U.S. early-stage, high-risk technology development to help make companies and their technologies more attractive to private sector investors, customers, and partners. This year we are seeking proposals in 5 broad topic areas:
1. Complete/Full #HybridElectric #Power Plants for 1500-5000 lb. #Airplanes or #Drones
2. Closing Capability Gaps to Accelerate In-Space Production Applications in #lowEarthOrbit (LEO)
3. #EarthScience Decision Apps with a Focus on the Mitigation of #Climate Change Impacts in the Areas of #Wildfires and #WaterManagement
4. Commercial Development of Active Debris Remediation (#ADR) and #OrbitalDebris #Tracking Services
5. #Mining and #Mineral Processing Technologies for Earth and Moon
Submissions are being accepted through Thursday, September 21, 2023, at 5 pm ET on the program's new submission interface—ProSAMS (Proposal Submissions and Award Management System). The NASA SBIR/STTR program designed ProSAMS to be an intuitive, user-friendly system that will help streamline the program's application, review, and award management processes.
This process is more streamlined and intended to be more rapid than the traditional SBIR process. For example, Phase I proposals require a white paper and a slide deck. If selected for Phase I, Phase II proposals will be due 120 days from the start of the Phase I period of performance. The goal of this earlier Phase II proposal deadline is to reduce the time between the end of Phase I and the beginning of the Phase II periods of performance.
The SBIR Ignite program aims to accelerate the advancement of technology to market. Firms are encouraged to propose the shortest Phase II period of performance that is required to reach their proposed milestones and not to default to the maximum 24-month period of performance.
