Short notice, I know.

Homegrown National Park, the organization focused on bringing nature home, is hosting a free live panel discussion today of The Extraordinary Caterpillar, the 60-minute documentary film about the hidden world of caterpillars.

In spring 2026, Homegrown National Park hosted a screening of the film.

Now they’ve organized a live panel discussion featuring experts from the film, including:

Dr. Doug Tallamy
Caterpillar Lab director Sam Jaffe
Botanist Laura Reeves

What to Know

The live panel discussion is Wednesday, October 14, 2026 from noon to 1:30PM Eastern Daylight Time (find time in your local time zone). It will be moderated by New York Times columnist Margaret Roach.

Registering for the Caterpillars Aren’t Just for Birds panel discussion gives you not only access to the discussion but also the ability to watch the documentary film on demand.

What will be covered in the discussion:

The diversity of caterpillars
What caterpillars need at every stage of the year
Everyday things you can do at home to help them thrive

If you can’t make the live discussion panel on October 14, 2026, everyone who registers for the panel discussion will have access to the recording until November 14, 2026.
