Ruthenberg: Court leak dirtiest Democrat trick yet

Is there more proof needed of how lowdown and dirty the Democrats will go to win elections and force their vision of America on the nation than the Monday night Supreme Court leak?

If you think the leaking of the draft opinion that indicates the court is about to overturn Roe v. Wade in deciding a Mississippi abortion case was pure happenstance, then you haven’t been paying attention to the past four years. Dating back to the false Trump Russian collusion nonsense the Dems foisted upon us and up to Monday’s troubling leak, it’s all part of the Dem playbook.

Within one hour of the draft opinion (which isn’t even official yet) being published by Politico, there were dozens of protesters assembled on the steps of the Supreme Court. That is not an organic movement. That is a well-planned operation. Where did these folks all come from? Do none of them have jobs?

No sooner it seemed had the draft opinion been leaked, the Dem leadership of Schumer, Pelosi and company were releasing statements proclaiming it was pretty much the end of civilization as we know it, at least maybe it is in their power-mad world.

Their venom was immediately directed at the “three Trump justices.” You will remember that Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett were all viciously attacked with scurrilous, baseless accusations during their Senate confirmation hearings.

The most vicious being reserved for Kavanaugh, who had to endure horrific false accusations such as being part of a “rape gang.” It was beyond sickening, but it served as a troubling look inside the Dems and the depths (they still haven’t apparently reached bottom) they will sink to destroy anybody that doesn’t comport to their thinking or threatens their power.

While sensible responses to the leak have been to condemn it, for Dems there was no such condemnation.

Politicizing the Supreme Court is what it’s all about. Never mind since its inception it has been considered the one branch that tried to rise above politics. That included protecting the sanctity of its decision-making process and certainly not leaking an opinion by rogue court personnel with a political agenda.

Always doing his part to raise the temperature and foment discord and fear among Americans, rather than being a claiming voice, President Biden chimed right in with the other Dems.

“Every other decision related to the notion of privacy is thrown into question,” Biden said. “Who you marry, whether or not you decide to conceive a child or not, whether or not you can have an abortion, a range of other decisions. If this decision holds, it’s really quite a radical decision,” Biden added. “I think it goes way overboard.”

Of course, his statement is preposterous. It’s also a far cry from what Biden said in 1982 about Roe v. Wade.

“I don’t like the Supreme Court decision on abortion,” then-Sen. Biden said. “I think it went too far. I don’t think that a woman has the sole right to say what should happen to her body.”

While there is plenty of wailing that the pending SCOTUS decision means the end of abortion, that clearly is not the case.

“The Constitution does not prohibit the citizens of each State from regulating or prohibiting abortion. Roe and Casey arrogated that authority. We now overrule those decisions and return that authority to the people and their elected representatives,” the draft decision read.

It’s also noteworthy those proclaiming “my body, my choice,” are mostly the same folks who insisted you must wear a mask and you must get vaccinated. Whose choice?

Many too are exorcised about overturning Roe v. Wade because it was considered “settled law.” You know what other cases were once considered settled law? Dred Scott vs. Sandford, which denied Black people citizenship, and the “separate but equal” decision in Plessy vs. Ferguson.

Deeply troubling as well is the Dems and their acolytes targeting specific justices with such venom, raising concerns for the justices’ safety.

To no one’s surprise, the Democrats wasted no time in sending out a fundraising letter using the leaked document to seek funds for their midterm campaigns, which is what this is really about.

The midterm elections are looking like a GOP tsunami because of the utter failure of everything the Biden administration has touched. America’s standing in the world has plunged, the economy has tanked, the border is in crisis and parents’ rights have been threatened.

The Dems are hoping to keep the focus off their very tangible failures by fanning the fans of false outrage over abortion. Will it succeed? Don’t put anything past the Dems and their willing accomplices in the national media.

It’s all they have. Lord knows they have no shame.
