The PlayStation 5 Showcase brought details for the next-generation console’s Devil May Cry series.

Before you get happy and think it’s something amazing, the title tells you it all. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is Capcom’s first title on next-gen. It comes with new features and game modes, including Vergil as a playable character.

There is a Turbo and Legendary Dark Knight Mode and the inclusion of Deluxe Edition and EX Color Pack content. Don’t forget the enhanced 3D audio that will be available on the PlayStation 5.

But that’s not it. Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition is also coming to the Xbox Series X with compatibility for the less powerful Xbox Series S also planned. Physical versions will be released as well but the timing hasn’t been announced.

Devil May Cry 5 is powered by Capcom’s RE Engine that led to the action series shipping more than 22 million units. RE Engine is behind titles such as Resident Evil 7 Biohazard, Resident Evil 2, and Resident Evil 3.

Capcom boasts that players can choose to enable increased frame rates up to 120FPS with stunning 4K fidelity on supporting consoles and experience an added sense of realism in reflections, shadows and 3D audio that allows players to hear enemy movements above, below and to any side with pinpoint precision.

There is a caveat to one of the boasts that Capcom has. Ray-tracing technology is for the Xbox Series X and Series S versions of the game. Ray-tracing will be included as part of a downloadable title update.

On the next-gen console, players can look forward to the Legendary Dark Knight Mode that increases enemy count while the Turbo Mode ramps the gameplay speed up by 20 percent to allow for even more rapid-fire and fluid combos. The new Vergil mode allows players to take the fan-requested character through perilous floors of the Bloody Palace challenge mode while wielding his iconic blade.

Vergil content will be available on PlayStation 4, the Xbox One family of devices, and Steam.
