Brian Goorjian is anything but surprised a fourth straight NBL Championship Series is going to a Game 5 and while desperate for a Sydney Kings win, he knows what a remarkable showcase their battle with the Adelaide 36ers has been.

Goorjian has now coached 872 NBL games and won six championships, but has never felt hungrier to win a ring than he does with this Kings team in NBL26 as they head to Game 5 at Qudos Bank Arena on Sunday.

Beyond that own personal drive knowing where they have come from at the start of the season to now, he finds it hard to imagine there's been a better Championship Series or that the NBL has ever been in a better place.

The crowd numbers speak for themselves and across the opening four games of the series with two games each in Sydney and Adelaide, 51,680 have been in attendance.

The action on the court has been dazzling and that's no surprise with two all-time great guards like Bryce Cotton and Kendric Davis, former big-time NBA players like Torrey Craig, John Jenkins and Matthew Dellavedova, and multiple NBL champions like Xavier Coooks and DJ Vasiljevic.

The quality of the series not just on-court, but the way it's been officiated, supported and embraced has blown Goorjian away.

"I think for everybody in the game of basketball and the NBL and the fight over the years for the game itself, the quality of this series from all aspects (is an all-time high)," Goorjian said.

"I'm including the referees and I think it's been a high-level performance by the coaches, the players, the support in the communities and the passion behind the teams.

"From what I'm hearing, the viewing audience and everybody is engaged in this and it's exciting for basketball."

Goorjian is also anything but surprised that another Championship Series has gone to a Game 5 with one of the great strengths of the NBL is just how competitive the league is, and how small the gap is between all teams.

"I think the league has done a great job and if you look at some of the other sports, the competition is really close and injuries played a factor in the teams getting to where they are, but we've done a great job of having a great competition through the course of the year," Goorjian said.

"When you get to this and the top four, there's nothing between them so when you have two teams like this, and like Melbourne-Tasmania in the past or Wollongong (Illawarra)-Melbourne, the chances are it's going to go five.

"I keep saying it, it's an incredible league and these finals series have been tremendous and I think this one might, and I know I'm involved in it, go to another level with everything going on around it.

"It's exciting for our league."

The Kings might have lost Game 4 in Adelaide on Wednesday, but Goorjian can't see any reason by any of their 18,000 supporters who will be on hand on Sunday would have had any reason to not be proud of the effort, and maintain faith of them completing the job.

He'll be glad to be able to more safely able to step out on the street than he can in Adelaide too.

"I think we've got the city behind us and I'm expecting a great crowd, and a great environment and I didn’t think we did anything tonight that anyone back home would be disappointed with," Goorjian said.

"You even walk out on the town when you get to Adelaide for about five minutes and you think this might not be a good idea, and maybe I should hang in my apartment a little longer.

"But the whole community is engaged in both cities and I've been involved in Sydney twice, and they've never been engaged wherever I go like that are in this now."

Goorjian has tried to stay out of the outside noise that has embroiled both teams that goes back to the end of the regular season when Adelaide coach Mike Wells made a passionate case for Cotton to be MVP.

Goorjian only fired back because he felt he was backed into a corner and now even after Game 3, he didn’t like Wells calling out the lack of fouls called on Dellavedova for his defensive on Cotton.

He is just trying to stay locked in on the job at hand and he's never seen a more focused playing group trying to do the same to get that championship.

"It has been (difficult to avoid) but I've worked hard at it and I feel like it's another lesson from my dad where every time you step out of the gym, you expect your head to get lopped off," Goorjian said.

"So just stay in the gym was the message and I'm trying to just get up in the morning and get on the video, stay in the gym once I get there and then I'm going to have a great time when this finishes hopefully with a ring.

"But right now it's tune everything else out, shut the doors and the windows and lock in, and try to win the game.

"I also feel like I've got a group that wants this real bad and I know our team is feeling like it's now and I know I am."
